Somatic EcoPsychology and Wilderness Apprenticeship Program 2026

May 26, 2026 @ 5:00 pm - August 30, 2026 @ 5:00 pm
$3,697

**Redesigned to Accommodate Both Out of Town and Local Students**

Blending the ancient ceremony of the wilderness solo with contemporary advances in ecopsychology and mindfulness-based therapy, this one-of-a-kind training is an opportunity to bring Nature into your counseling, coaching or healing work.  With a curriculum informed by the ceremonial wilderness rites of passage, ecopsychology, Hakomi®, Somatic Experiencing® and other therapies, we’ll teach you an array of practices applicable to urban or wilderness settings.  Over the course of our time together we’ll form a peer community that will nurture and support your personal growth and professional progress in the field of somatic ecopsychology.

This four-month long training meets in a hybrid format, blending immersive in-person Nature experiences with live online meetings so that both local and out-of-town students can fully participate. We’ll have an initial preparatory online call before the 11-day wilderness immersion and solo. The wilderness solo is, in part, a time to give thanks to the earth and to ask for Nature’s guidance and blessing as you progress down the path of becoming a wilderness rites of passage guide. The program continues in late summer with an integration meeting in preparation for the 5-day Guiding Practice Immersion. This front-country based intensive culminates with apprentices having the opportunity to practice guiding volunteer participants with the support of the guides and other apprentices. Readings, homework assignments and contact with colleagues will build program continuity across the duration of the training.  We will also cover ecotherapeutic approaches more easily applied to urban and other non-wilderness settings.

Open to therapists, wilderness guides, coaches and anyone eager to work more somatically or in alignment with Nature’s healing powers, the Somatic Ecopsychology and Wilderness Apprenticeship Program is ideal for people inspired to become wilderness rites of passage guides or do other nature-based transformative work.
