April 25, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

CLASS REFORMATTED FOR ‘SOCIAL DISTANCING’ PROTOCOLS and in or near the New Zealand Time Zone

If there were ever a time that we need deep Nature connection, this is one of those times! Here’s the adapted format. (Some scholarship funds available for participants impacted by COVID-19 and ‘Shelter in Place’ restrictions. Contact us for more details.)

Are You Ready…?

• For more time outdoors?

• To bring the healing powers of Nature into your work and daily life?

• To move through some of the intense emotions of the COVID-19 era into a more grounded, empowered state?

• To more often feel that wonderful sense of ease and connection with all of life?

Come Join Us to:

• Experience your self and body more deeply as a part of Nature

• Learn how this elemental connection has everything to do with your well-being

• Learn tools for helping yourself and others connect with Nature and orient to life in healthy, supportive and energizing ways

We’ll blend discussion of pertinent ideas with ample periods of experiential activities, quiet reflection and a chance to consider how to integrate the day’s learning into one’s work or life. Open to healing arts professionals as well as the general public, this fun, experiential day will introduce participants to some basic principles and practices of the field of Ecotherapy.

The erroneous notion of modern society that we humans are somehow separate from or not a part of Nature causes much of our distress and dis-ease. Logically, we can understand this– what or where else could we be? Yet this alienation is so commonplace in western culture that we often don’t even notice it. And even as we are awakening to the gravity of this situation for the larger biosphere, we are still just learning how best to respond.

Through an array of theories and practices of Ecopsychology and it’s applied form, known as Ecotherapy, seek to redress this fundamental alienation and restore the wellness that comes when we live with a felt sense of connection to Nature all around and within us. As healers and helpers, there is much we can do to ally ourselves and our efforts with the healing forces of Nature. Join us to be inspired and learn more.

ADAPTED FORMAT FOR “SOCIAL ISOLATION” PROTOCOL

While we would much prefer to meet outdoors together, as is our customary practice, with a little creativity, we can still get most of the benefits of this class in this different format. Typically, this class includes time both together and in solitude in Nature. This format continues in this blended online/outdoor class.

We’ll meet first online (Zoom meeting) for much of the morning (if possible, we encourage students to call in from somewhere outdoors, even their own garden/yard/neighborhood park).

After we’ve oriented you and given you new skills in the ecotherapeutic dance of reciprocity, we’ll send you out into Nature. You will be well prepped for this personal time alone in Nature to enter into a deep dialogue with the ‘more than human’ world, settle into stillness or bring forward pressing questions or needs.

Then, we’ll welcome you back to our virtual meeting place (on Zoom) and spend most of the afternoon in demonstration, training and practice of some ecotherapeutic ways of working with the material that has emerged from your solo time. Lastly, we’ll come to completion and help you find concrete steps for integrating your learning into your everyday life and Nature-allied work in the world.

Open to mental health professionals as well as the general public, this fun, experiential day on the land will introduce participants to some basic principles and practices of the field of ecotherapy. Healthcare professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to their clients or patients.
